Breakthrough in Seed-Propagating Saffron Achieved, March 2025

After years of research, our team has successfully identified fertile saffron genotypes capable of seed formation under controlled conditions. This marks a significant step toward overcoming the limitations of clonal propagation in Crocus sativus and opens the door to scalable, genetically diverse saffron cultivation. Although the first and second batches of bulbs were unsuitable, we are optimistic about the future of the research loops.

New Partnership with Global Agronomy Lab, October 2024 

We are proud to announce a strategic collaboration with a global agronomy lab in Europe. This partnership will enable joint field trials, knowledge exchange, and accelerated development of resilient saffron cultivars optimized for diverse agro-climatic zones. 

Advanced In Vitro Tissue Culture Platform Launched, May 2024 

Our newly implemented tissue culture lab is now operational, offering high-efficiency propagation of saffron and other high-value crops. The sterile in vitro platform supports somatic embryogenesis and cryopreservation studies to safeguard plant genetic resources for future generations. 

International study on Saffron Genetics, December 2023

Our scientists presented recent findings on genome stabilization in triploid saffron in an international study. The research received strong interest for its implications on sexual reproduction pathways and long-term breeding strategies. 

CRISPR Pilot Project Targets Trait Enhancement in Saffron, June 2023

We have initiated a pilot study using CRISPR-Cas gene editing to explore the functional modification of candidate genes associated with flowering, stigma development, and stress resistance in saffron. Early results are promising and will feed into our next breeding cycle.
